Directed by David Cronenberg and based on Stephen King’s 1979 farsighted novel, THE DEAD ZONE (1983) tells the story of a schoolteacher named Johnny who awakens from a five year long coma with newfound psychic abilities that allow him to see the past and future of anyone he physically touches.

Johnny’s abilities are used to assist in a murder investigation but he becomes aware of a ‘dead zone’ in his prescience when a vision he experiences actualizes differently in reality. While tutoring for a wealthy family’s son, Johnny meets and shakes the hand of a charismatic new third-party presidential candidate and witnesses a future where he is elected, ordering a nuclear strike on the country, thus leaving Johnny with the moral imperative to stop him.
